Miscanthus Strictus

Also known as Porcupine grass. An elegant reed-like grass, Miscanthus sinensis ‘Strictus’ has narrow stems clad with slender arching cream-striped leaves. In late summer the plants are topped by pale feathery plumes of flowers which can be cut and dried for flower arrangements. In autumn, the stems and foliage gradually dry out, leaving a russet brown skeletal shape which can form a fairly architectural attraction throughout the winter. It’s perfect for growing in a mixed herbaceous border.

Grow Miscanthus sinensis ‘Strictus’ in moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Remove dead foliage and flowering stems in spring.
